The Haniel Foundation stands for value-oriented entrepreneurship – out of a sense of tradition and conviction. Focusing on sustainable ideas and creative approaches to societal change, we promote talented up-and-coming managers.
International and practical
In our globally networked world of work, intercultural competencies are in demand. Therefore, the Haniel Foundation supports young people with scholarships for studying abroad. It runs two scholarship programmes of its own and also supports the McCloy Academic Scholarship Program.
Experts at university
By working together with three universities, the Haniel Foundation provides a wide range of practical courses. It facilitates lectures, seminars and panel discussions with notable experts from the worlds of theory and practice. It focuses on the topics that will clearly show the managers of tomorrow the complexity of the relationships between business, politics and the public sector.
Strong cooperations
With the range of courses it sponsors, the Haniel Foundation contributes to making its partner universities more attractive for young people. The central development project is its collaboration with the Willy Brandt School of Public Policy in Erfurt and the European Haniel Program on Entrepreneurship and the Humanities in cooperation with the University of St.Gallen and the Copenhagen Business School.
At the Willy Brandt School, the Haniel Foundation has set up two new chairs - the Franz Haniel Chair of Public Policy and the Aletta Haniel Chair of Public Policy and Entrepreneurship.

The Haniel Foundation scholarship programme offers diverse opportunities to gain experience abroad and establish contacts.

Yearly the Haniel Foundation awards 20 scholarships to young talents. One of them is Frederic Rupprecht. He currently studies at the Harvard Kenendy School of Government. 2013 he founded the Start-up „betterRe!“
